A step in the right direction II

At the very base of any organization’s existence is the big why- A Vision! Every other thing exists to help fulfil that vision: mission statements, values, systems, human resources, and of course GOALS.

The key ingredient in goal setting is to have a vision, the picture of a preferred future. A vision keeps you forging ahead, propels you towards taking a new course, meeting an important alliance, dropping old habits to form new ones, eating healthy, taking your job seriously, getting a mentor, start saving! With a vision in front of you, certain milestones are met to get you there-these are goals. Now some of us have great visions that drive us, others may not. The point is you have to start somewhere.

If you have none, start with defining your life’s vision. This snowballs into different aspects of your life. The very core of your existence is linked to every other aspect of your life: education, career, relationships, finances, health, faith, etc. Once this is defined you can now begin to draw a map from where you are to where you ought to be, through goal setting in these different areas.

If you have a great vision, review the past year. Reviews are to be done in line with your clearly defined vision. Go through your set goals carefully to note those that were accomplished and the reasons why you were able to, those that weren’t, as well as the impediments. Analyse how closer these goals are getting you to your vision, or if you actually need to eliminate some. This will give you a proper insight on what you need to do in 2014.

So people, let’s get our best foot forward, in the right direction.

A step in the right direction I

Every journey begins with a step! A wise woman once told me: before you take a step, ask yourself where you are headed, why you want to get there, and what you need to get there. Every journey begins with a step IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Welcome once again to 2014! The rush is already on, and I’m sure we are all trying to pen down our goals for the year as well as
develop strategies to actualizing them. Here is something to note-

A proper review of 2013, the pros and cons, will help eliminate the same ill occurrences and disappointments, as well as highlight key success strategies. This will help you make informed decisions while setting and pursuing your goals this year.

I can almost hear someone say: the year has already begun, I need to set the ball rolling, I need to move fast. I have no time for reviews. Great! But goals are set to help one in accomplishing a feat, a purpose. How else will one know she is closer to the destination without pausing to see how far she has come? how far she has to go and what she needs to do? So before you start with plans for 2014, take out a sheet of paper, take out time away from distractions, isolate yourself and do a proper review. You may be shocked to find yourself carrying over some goals from last year, changing strategies or even alliances.

So the big question: How do I review my 2013?
